St. Lucy’s Gift

BVRS has received a $200,000 gift from St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind. The donation is from proceeds of St. Lucy’s annual Medallion Ball, which recognizes young women for completing a required amount of volunteer hours in the community during their high school years. Since 1959, St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind has given BVRS $3,355,366.

“We continue to be grateful to St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind and the young women who have worked so hard in service to others,” said BVRS President Erika Arbogast, pictured above, third from left. St. Lucy’s Auxiliary is a volunteer organization founded in 1957 with the vision to instill the importance of service-to-others in young women and to recognize them for their efforts.St. Lucy is the patron saint to the blind, so it was decided that the funds raised by the organization would benefit the visually impaired. Today, St. Lucy’s Auxiliary continues to support the visually impaired through benefiting Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh.
